Team Vicar The Rev'd Alan Butler BA(Hons)

The Vicarage, St Stephens Road, SALTASH, Cornwall. PL12 4NQ

Born 1953, I trained with Carlisle Diocesan Training Institute 1986 - 1989.and was ordained Deacon in 1989, and Priest in 1990. I then worked as a non stipendiary priest (NSM) in the parish of St John the Baptist, Flookburgh in Carlisle diocese 1989 - 1993. After this I became Curate in two places at once, Maryport and Flimby in north west Cumbria for 3 years, before being licensed as Priest in Charge of Flimby for two years from 1996. In 1998 I moved with my wife and daughter to Saltash to become Team Vicar within the Saltash Team Ministry. Most of my ministry is exercised from St Stephens Church among the congregation and community of this part of the town. I am currently president of Saltash Churches Together.

Born 1942, AKC 1966. Preisted 1968. Served whole of ministry in Diocese of Truro from curacies in St Ives, and Falmouth. Then as Vicar of St Germans and Tideford. Rural Dean of East Wivelshire from 1981 -1985, and has been an Honorary Canon of Truro Cathedral since 1982. Team Rector of Saltash since 1985. Chaplain to St Barnabas Hospital Saltash since 1990.

Trained with the South West Ministry Training Course 1994-1997. Ordained Deacon 1996 at Truro Cathedral and Priest 1997. Licensed as Ordained Local Minister to the United Benifice of St. Germans including Tideford, Hessenford and Downderry 1996-2003. Licenced to the Saltash Team Ministry 2006.

Born Nov 1944, at Devonport, New Zealand. In 1971 I met my wife Catherine whilst living in England and we were married in New Zealand in 1974. I trained initially as a Reader at Woolston Theological College, Perth, Western Australia in 1981-82 and assisted in the setting up the new parish of Carine-Duncraig, North Perth.

Returned to England in 1984 - Assisted June/July 84 as Reader, St Dubricius, Porlock, Somerset. Lead Morning/Evening Prayers and assisted in parish communion services. 1986 - Accepted for training by Bishop of Norwich, Rt Rev'd Peter Nott. Reader ministry training. 1989-2004 Watton Benefice. Lead parish church services in all three churches at Morning and Evening Prayer, assisted in parish communion services, preaching at services. Taking services at retirement homes in Watton and sick communion. Also lead Morning and Evening Prayer outside parish benefice in Wayland Group of parishes during their interregnum. Parish representative on the Breckland Deanery Synod, (Pastoral Committee) and Breckland Deanery representative on Norwich Diocese Synod. Active member of PCC (Finance, Liturgical, Fabric & Pastoral Committees). Remembrance Day Service and Good Friday Devotional Services and lead Saturday Morning Prayers at Watton. Took part in Healing Ministry at Overstrand, Norfolk from this period onwards. Sept 1999 - Child Protection Course at St Mary's Watton. 2002 Diocesan Funeral/Bereavement Course (Licensed to take funerals in accordance with Church Canon Law). This included Holy Communion by Extension. Attended monthly staff meetings within Watton Benefice.

May 2004 - Transferred to HMNB Devonport as Civil Servant Ministry of Defence - Also transferred from Norwich to Truro Diocese as Licensed Reader 1 October 2005. Currently Reader at Saltash Team Ministry.
